Lumsden Community Youth Group

It's out of this world!

Tuesday's

September - June

Our church (Rock of the Valley) runs a local community youth group. We've done this in Lumsden for over 15 years!

ABOUT

Youth group is open to anyone in grades 7-12. There is no registration to join. If your son or daughter wants to come to youth all they have to do is meet us at the Lumsden Centennial Hall on Tuesday nights at 7pm  (some events we meet earlier). Youth group goes till 10pm.

WHAT WE DO
As a community youth group our events take place in the community as well as the surrounding area. In town we have scavenger hunts, bonfires, tobogganing, make your own movie nights, gym nights and more. When we travel out of town you can find us at the beach, hiking in the hills or in Regina at bowling, GetAir, swimming, Skypark, etc.

TRAVELLING
We travel together in a school bus (painted blue) that was recently purchased by our church.

COST
There is no cost to come to youth group, however some events cost money which is not covered. Also, we often go to a restaurant for a snack at the end of each night so youth can bring money for that if they wish.

CULTURE & DEVOTIONS
Youth group is a place for youth in Lumsden to come enjoy incredible events each week together and experience a place where they are welcomed, encouraged, and inspired in life.

At the end of each night we take time to share a short devotion focused on life principles and encouraging words based on our faith in God. Devotions are meant to be:

Practical things youth can do
(ex: encourage someone this week with your words)
Encouragement in their lives
(ex: you are valued and we believe in you)

FIRST TIME?
If this is your first time coming to youth group please feel free to reach out to our Youth Director, Francis Dixon if you have questions or to learn more.

REGISTRATION YOUR SON/DAUGHTER

Whilte there is no cost to come to youth group, we do like to have a record of information on everyone who comes that includes parent/guardian name and phone number in case of emergencies.

We would also appreciate an email address for when we do special events, but this is not required.

OUR TEAM

We have several volunteers from our church who help run youth group.

Our youth leaders sign a code of conduct and submit criminal record checks.

We love our youth leaders and we couldn't do what we do without them!

Youth Church
Sunday, Nov 3

We're launching a youth church for anyone in High School (grade 9-12) on the First Sunday of every month from 7-8pm called IGNITE.

  • November 3

  • December 1

IGNITE will be held at Rock of the Valley Community Church, 10 Short Street.

We want to ignite a transformation in the youth of Lumsden that is about loving themselves, loving God, and loving their neighbour, their parents, their siblings, teachers, coaches and everyone they encounter. We want to see youth become people who encourage one another, give back to the community, know their identity, and bring this change to everyone around them. Following Jesus isn't about following a set of rules, but about encountering Grace and then taking the Grace into our world for others to encounter.

Our vision is to create an atmosphere for youth with lights, upbeat music, latte/hot chocolate bar, glow sticks, short impactful messages, question time, and time for praying for each other.

Maybe you're not totally sure about this Jesus person yet, but we would invite you to "come and see". Come ask questions, come to encounter grace, come to hear impactful teaching of the things Jesus taught people when we lived on this earth.

If you have questions please call or text Francis, Youth Director at 306-540-3726
